The Colorado Education Association (CEA) is recruiting an experienced and qualified candidate who is passionate about helping elevate educator voices and building power to improve working and learning conditions for educators and students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • To be considered for this position, you must reside within the Ski Country area. Applicants from neighboring counties or those living within a twenty-mile radius of the assigned Ski Country UniServ Unit may also be considered. This applies as long as you relocate to the region before the start date of the role.
  • Experience in negotiations, grievance processing, public relations, and general member representation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent and expert judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with educators in the PreK-12 and higher education environments, and/or with other public sector labor relations law and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and analyze various options in determining an appropriate course of action and initiative to implement corrective action. 
  • Experience in developing, motivating, training, and maintaining cadres of volunteers and leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating labor union organizing and/or community organizing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Provide primary and professional staff support to the leaders and members of the assigned locals.
  • Assist local unions with negotiations and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Represent members during advocacy, investigation, and grievance processes and train local leaders to develop representation skills.
  • Work directly with local and worksite leaders to identify, address, and resolve workplace issues. 
  • Support the development and execution of local organizing campaigns.
  • Assist local leaders and members with the development, implementation, and evaluation of local associations’ programs and activities that strengthen organizational capacity. 
  •  Engage in organizing and capacity-building efforts that support local, state, and national goals.
  • Assist with leadership development and training and help identify new member leaders. 
  • Provides coverage for UniServ Director vacancies and leaves. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits 
This is a bargaining unit position with a salary range of $75,000 – $156, 000 based on prior experience and qualifications. A fringe benefits package is provided as defined in the CEASO Collective Bargaining Agreement including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan and paid leave.
