Veteran Organizer

Overview
The Veteran Organizer will be responsible for building and mobilizing a strong base of military veterans and their families in the Clarksville and Middle Tennessee region. This role focuses on empowering veterans to advocate for issues important to their community, fostering civic engagement, and developing local leadership.
Responsibilities
Community Building and Engagement
- Identify, recruit, and onboard military veterans interested in civic participation and community advocacy.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local veteran service organizations, community groups, and key stakeholders.
- Organize and facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and events to engage veterans and identify shared concerns.
- Create a supportive environment for veterans to share their experiences and develop collective solutions.
Leadership Development
- Train and mentor veteran leaders to take on active roles in organizing campaigns and community initiatives.
- Provide resources and support for skill-building in areas such as public speaking, campaign strategy, and legislative advocacy.
- Identify opportunities for veteran leaders to represent the organization at local, state, and national levels.
Campaign and Advocacy
- Work with veterans to identify key issues affecting their community (e.g., healthcare access, housing, employment, mental health).
- Develop and implement organizing campaigns around these issues, including direct action, public education, and policy advocacy.
- Coordinate with statewide and national veteran advocacy groups to amplify impact.ack and report on campaign progress and outcomes.
Communications
- Develop compelling messaging and materials to communicate the organization’s mission and campaigns to veterans and the wider community.
- Utilize various communication channels, including social media, email, and local media, to reach target audiences.
- Represent the organization positively at public events and in media interactions.
Administrative and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, volunteer engagement, and campaign progress.
- Prepare regular reports on activities, successes, and challenges for organizational leadership.
- Manage a budget for organizing activities in the Clarksville/Middle TN area.
Qualifications
Required
- Military veteran status strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in community organizing, advocacy, or political campaigns.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of people.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Familiarity with the Clarksville and Middle Tennessee region.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Experience working with veteran populations or veteran-specific issues.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Working Conditions
- This position will involve frequent travel within the Clarksville and Middle Tennessee area.
- Evening and weekend work will be required to accommodate community meetings and events.
- Hybrid work model with a mix of remote work and in-person community engagement.
