United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 2013 is a union of 14,000 members working in food manufacturing, warehousing, and health care in the New York City metropolitan area. Major responsibilities include:
- Lead Collective Bargaining Department of the Local Union
- Coordinate all bargaining for the Local
- Work with Union leadership to develop Department’s strategic goals and objectives
- Train and develop staff and worker committees to provide support in negotiations
- Establish goals and standards, conduct performance reviews and make appropriate recommendations regarding retention
- Maintain tracking, reporting and analysis on all campaigns
- Plan and execute worker meetings and trainings as needed
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of bargaining experience, with a track record of leading successful contract campaigns
- 2-4 years experience managing, including training and directly supervising individuals.
- Advanced ability to research, analyze data, and make logical conclusions thinking strategically
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills showing flexibility as needed; adept at dealing with conflicting/changing priorities
- Comfort working with a diverse set of people
- Commitment to fight for justice and worker rights
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Bilingual Spanish (and/or other languages) desired / plus
- Ability to work independently, under pressure, in a fast-paced work environment, with multiple priorities and critical deadlines
- In depth knowledge of relevant labor laws such as NLRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, etc.
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours and travel extensively as needed
- Valid driver’s license – A MUST
