Membership System Administrator

Based in New York City, NY

Professional Staff Congress, Local 2334, is a progressive, activist union, representing 30,000 faculty and staff at The City University of New York (CUNY). PSC is seeking to hire an experienced individual who will help implement and maintain an integrated organizing/membership/grievance/arbitration database as well as train and support staff and elected leadership in tracking, reporting and analyzing membership outreach, member activity and contract enforcement actions. This is a professional, unionized position under the supervision of the PSC Associate Executive Director.

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, with some latitude for independent decision-making:

  • Provide guidance and advice to staff and elected leaders on how to record data and run reports/queries
  • Manage end user access, rights and roles; facilitate on-boarding of new users
  • Import datasets as needed
  • Generate reports and queries and assist staff and elected leadership in obtaining the data they need; review the results of queries to ensure data integrity
  • Work as part of a team to manage the transition from separate membership, organizing and grievance/arbitration databases to a comprehensive database that combines all functions
  • Prepare and update user reference guides
  • Identify new opportunities for data analysis to support organizational goals

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience managing member data for a labor union or nonprofit membership organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of users with widely varying skill levels
  • Demonstrated superior organizational skills and ability to exercise good and independent judgement in solving problems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Skilled in the use of MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of best practices in using databases to support organizing, contract enforcement and political work preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL or comparable programming software preferred

Education & Other Requirements:

  • BA/BS or more advanced degree in a relevant field
  • At least 3 full-time employment references in related work

SALARY: $70,000 + (depending on experience); comprehensive benefit package
