Labor Union Field and Collective Bargaining Representative

Based in Brooklyn, NY

United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 2013 is a union of 14,000 members working in food manufacturing, warehousing, and health care in the New York City metropolitan area. Our Brooklyn-based union represents a majority immigrant workforce that is the backbone of the city. We are committed to improving the lives of working people.

Major Responsibilities Include:

• Conducting contract negotiations
• Working with field staff and worker committees to provide support in negotiations
• Plan and execute worker contract meetings and trainings as needed
• Internal Organizing and Servicing for designated shops including grievance filing of grievances and grievance resolution and tracking, building and managing labor management committees, identifying and developing leadership.
• Perform related work as required

Qualifications:

• 5 years of bargaining experience, with a track record of leading successful contract campaigns
• 2 years Organizing Experience.
• Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills showing flexibility as needed; adept at dealing with conflicting/changing priorities
• Comfort working with a diverse set of people
• Commitment to fight for justice and worker rights
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Bilingual Spanish (and/or other languages) a plus
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, in a fast-paced work environment, with multiple priorities and critical deadlines
• knowledge of relevant labor laws such as NLRA, FMLA, ADA, Workers Compensation, etc.
• Willingness to work long, irregular hours and travel when required.
• Valid driver’s license – A MUST

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary will be based on years of experience. Package includes comprehensive health and retirement benefits
