Organization Overview
SEIU Education and Support Fund (ESF) is a 501(c)(3) that provides education and training programs to empower workers, raise standards, and promote high quality jobs. The National Early Educator Training Center (NEETC) aims to ensure that all early childhood education (ECE) professionals feel engaged and empowered in their profession; are respected and well compensated; and have access to educator-centered professional development and training. The NEETC does this by bringing together early educators to design and facilitate worker-centered, relationship-based, and accessible education and training programs.

Position Summary
SEIU Education and Support Fund (ESF) seeks a visionary, enthusiastic candidate to fill a newly created full-time position for a Director of National Early Educator Training Center. This position is an exciting opportunity to lead the programmatic and infrastructure development of the NEETC into its next phase of development. The ideal candidate for the position is a self-starter, a systems thinker, is comfortable with ambiguity and is passionate about building educator centered professional development, education and training programs for home based early childhood educators.

This position will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Lead multi-state efforts to identify overlapping professional development needs of the ECE workforce and facilitate the replication of innovative programming to address these needs.
  • Cultivate and manage trusting, collaborative relationships with a diverse set of partners, including state based union affiliates/Locals, state agencies, higher education institutions, other ECE training organizations.
  • Develop and manage all elements of developing ECE programs including administering needs assessments, designing curriculum, evaluation
  • Develop early childhood curriculum and competencies across a variety of training settings, including in-person group classes, online, and thru coaches, mentors and peer networks.
  • Establish and maintain a national learning community by convening virtual and in-person gatherings of key stakeholders to share best practices and strengthen policy and advocacy work at the state and national levels.
  • Identify and capture revenue sources from government and private funding sources Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience working with diverse communities including low-income women of color and is committed to advancing equity and inclusion efforts in the organization
  • Is flexible, comfortable working independently and is a sophisticated collaborator
  • Experience in serving ESL populations and workers in isolated professions and those who have traditionally been excluded from pathways to advancement
  • Ability to work some evenings, weekends
  • Travel up to 20% of time including air travel and multi-day trips
  • Is committed to a worker-center, empowerment-based approach to training Experience
  • Five years of increasing experience in developing, implementing and evaluating early childhood, adult education or workforce development programs.
  • Managing staff and consultants toward program outcomes.
  • Experience with labor management training funds a plus.
  • Bilingual, bicultural a plus.
