Leadership Development Organizer
Based in Portland, OR
Oregon Federation of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (OFNHP) Local 5017 represents 5,500 nurses and healthcare professionals in Oregon and Washington, most of them employees of Kaiser Permanente, with a growing number from the PeaceHealth system. OFNHP is an affiliate of the Nurses and Health Professionals division of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).
The Leadership Development Organizer shall encourage, assist, and coordinate planning and implement of members of OFNHP AFT members.
Duties:
- Develop budget for all leadership training
- Disseminate leadership development best practices.
- Technical assistance and communications planning to OFNHP AFT planning of professional development programs.
- Advise OFNHP AFT leadership in best practice of promoting best practice
- Assist councils in planning leadership development of conferences and way to maximize member participation
- Orient new staff, contract specialists, members on release.
- Assign staff to mentor contract specialist, and release time members.
- Write and teach curriculum for Neo, steward training, contact specialist, etc.
- Train staff and other trainers to implement OFNHP program
- Develop and promote contract specialist curriculum
- Recommend or develop leadership development program
Qualifications, skills knowledge abilities required:
- Successful participation in union activities
- Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Computer literacy
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong writing skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience with quality improvement programs
- Mentor steward
- Implement programs
- Non-voting member of the Leadership Development Committee
- Willing to work long and irregular hours
- Be in possession of an insured vehicle and valid driver’s license
Supervision:
Reports to OFNHP President or designee.
Supervision: As assigned. No management responsibilities
