Database Analyst

Based in Portland, OR

Oregon Federation of Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (OFNHP) Local 5017 represents 5,500 nurses and healthcare professionals in Oregon and Washington, most of them employees of Kaiser Permanente, with a growing number from the PeaceHealth system. OFNHP is an affiliate of the Nurses and Health Professionals division of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for office staff including, but not limited to, business processes driven by the curation and management of data across several teams.
  • Receive member calls and proactively respond in a professional manner.
  • Responsible for overall planning, organizing, and execution of all Information System functions. This includes creating member events in the membership database and creating signup widgets on the union website.
  • Network and server administrator.
  • Manage data and information systems.
  • Manage and maintain Union website.
  • Generate and manipulate queries, reports and dashboards to help identify inconsistencies in the union’s dues and membership data.
  • Manage the operation of membership and dues information database, receive and upload dues, receive and upload demographics and wage files.
  • Conduct routine data match and hygiene processes for the dues database and other relevant data storage systems.
  • Assist Finance Department with reconciliations.
  • Evaluate and monitor the flow of information to improve and re-tool existing data systems. Troubleshoot any system-wide difficulties or problems with information systems.
  • Develop IT policy to ensure security, performance and consistency across all internal information systems.
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships related to data and technology, including requests for proposals, evaluation of bids and managing contracts.
  • Analyze workflows and recommend technology solutions.
  • Oversee software toolsets which support field, mobilization and organizing initiatives and provide front-line technical support for organizers and leadership.
  • Monthly dues, per caps and fair share reports to Finance Coordinator.
  • Monthly membership reports to organizers and leadership.
  • Create mailing lists and mass email communications.
  • Managing multiple projects to migrate legacy applications and data systems to an upgraded hosting environment and/or Cloud services using current technology stacks and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or ability to complete post-secondary education within two years in data management, business information systems, or relevant field.
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to dive deep into business processes/systems and make improvements.
  • A track record of delivering results both individually and in collaboration with others.

Skills:

  • Able to work well under pressure and to excel in a constantly changing environment.
  • Able to navigate and utilize appropriate query software.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions
  • A solution-oriented attitude that focuses on continuous improvement
  • Motivated seeker of process efficiencies
  • Superior organizational skills to facilitate working across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to connect with stakeholders from other parts of the organization and understand their objectives
  • Very high accuracy and attention to detail is required and must be demonstrated in data entry, building queries and generating reports.
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office Suite.
  • Advanced data management skills.
  • Experience with membership databases or similar query & reporting programs.
  • Strong knowledge of VIN data and how it ties to vehicles would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Vehicle Ordering and Pricing data would be an asset
  • This is a salaried position which may at times include early mornings, late nights and weekends.
  • Basic coding knowledge.
  • Be in possession of an insured vehicle and valid driver’s license.
