Project Field Organizer

Summary:
SEIU Local 205 is seeking the immediate hire of a Project Field Organizer who will serve as the foundation for building a large volunteer operation for a worker mobilization campaign. The Project Field Organizer will be responsible for moving the Local’s organizing plan to educate, recruit, train and mobilize workers through use of both in person and digital organizing.

This is a full-time, temporary position located in Nashville, Tennessee and requiring a commitment through March 2021 with the possibility of an extension depending on the needs of the campaign. This position reports to the Local Political Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit, and train volunteers to build a volunteer-based campaign that meets the goals outlined by the Local’s organizing plan
  • Provide volunteers with the positive leadership, culture, resources, and guidance required to succeed during each phase of the campaign
  • Manage and participate in phone banks, site visits, and peer-to-peer texting for the purpose of recruiting new members, recruiting volunteers, and mobilizing workers
  • Ensure the accurate and reliable entry of data throughout the campaign
  • Provide the Local Political Director with quantitative and qualitative reports as part of an ongoing evaluation of the program’s success
  • Perform other duties as needed

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous field experience strongly preferred
  • VAN proficiency is required
  • Strong knowledge of Google Suite, basic computer literacy, and access to a reliable laptop
  • Experience with digital and relational organizing tools is helpful as well as peer-to-peer texting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work long, irregular hours including nights and weekends in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an ability to relocate as needed
  • Excellent leadership and management skills

This is a temporary, full-time position. There is a salary range of $3,300 to $4,300 per month with compensation being commensurate with experience. Fully paid health insurance is included.
