Director of Accounting

Based in Washington, DC

Washington DC based International Labor Union has available a Director of Accounting position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Executive Director of Financial Management
  • Responsible for managing staff and leading the operations of a full-service accounting department.
  • Accounting department is responsible for monthly financial reporting for multiple entities as well as overseeing in-house payrolls and accounts payable functions.
  • Responsible for administration of accounting procedures and internal controls, oversees annual external audits and serves as the cash manager and liaison to multiple banks with treasury management functions.
  • Accountable for knowledge of current legislation as it relates to financial statements and payroll functions.

SKILLS & CORE COMPENTENCIES

  • Must have a CPA license
  • Significant experience in non-profit accounting (including pensions and health and welfare plans)
  • Familiarity with 5500’s, 990’s as well as Federal tax filings, W-2’s, 1099M’s and 1099R’s
  • 5 years accounting supervisory experience
  • Strong technical application skills
  • Background and an in-depth knowledge of accounting software
  • Familiarization with Department of Labor compliance the annual Labor Management reporting form would strengthen the candidate.
  • Successful candidate will have excellent communication, organization and management skills.
