The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) is the largest house staff union in the United States. We are a local of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), representing over 17,000 resident physicians who are dedicated to improving residency training and education, advancing patient care, and expanding healthcare access for our communities. CIR’s mission is to empower our nation’s interns, residents, and fellows to fight for excellence for our patients.

Job Description:
The Committee of Interns and Residents is looking to fill a New Organizer position in the Boston region. CIR is committed to the growth of the organization through strategic organizing campaigns. To accomplish this, we need a highly driven and committed individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills and can effectively solve problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct broad and intensive outreach
  • Build one-on-one relationships
  • Identify, recruit and develop leaders
  • Conduct individual and group meetings to move organizing campaigns forward
  • Engage, motivate and mobilize physicians-in-training to take action
  • Plan and implement actions and events to support organizing efforts

Minimum of 2 years of experience

  • Competitive salary ($55,000-$76,000) commensurate with experience and in compliance with the staff collective bargaining agreement

CIR is looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience in labor movement preferred but not required
  • Healthcare experience preferred, but not required
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and writing)
  • Strong ability to connect and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds in pursuit of a common goal
  • Capability to think critically to manage conflict and adversarial situations
  • Ability to work independently and possess a strong work ethic
  • Ability to quickly incorporate feedback and direction from your supervisor.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Flexible working outside normal business hours, ability to work in the evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to travel throughout the country frequently and for long periods of time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • Proficiency with Google products such as Gmail and Google Drive (docs & sheets)
