About FFSC
The mission of the Fair Food Standards Council (FFSC) is to monitor the development of a sustainable agricultural industry that advances the human rights of farmworkers, the long-term interests of growers, and the ethical supply chain concerns of retail food companies through implementation of the Fair Food Program (FFP), a unique worker-led, market-driven social responsibility program that emerged from the Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ successful Campaign for Fair Food. FFSC is based in Sarasota, FL, with work-related travel throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Pay is highly competitive within the non-profit sector and commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

• Lead a diverse, dynamic team of human rights investigators responsible for conducting comprehensive audits of participating growers’ operations.
• Continuously monitor the progress of the audit program, including coordinating the team in scheduling the audit calendar, corresponding with participating growers, preparing for audits, and following up after audits;
• Intake, investigate, and resolve confidential complaints received through FFSC’s 24-hour complaint hotline and audit procedures;
• Lead FFSC’s team of investigators in time-sensitive on-the-ground complaint investigations;
• Conduct sensitive interviews with farmworkers, supervisors, and management;
• Prepare and review audit materials, including interview tools and detailed, accurate notes from interviews and complaint investigations;
• Work closely with FFSC senior staff and management to improve auditing methods;
• Organize and analyze data from audits, complaints, and investigations using the FFSC database;
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish required. Fluency in Haitian Creole or French desired, but not required.
• At least three years of experience in a leadership position in a non-profit, public service, or labor organization, and proven ability to support, guide, and develop more junior staff;
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate professionally with individuals of varying backgrounds and educational levels;
• Experience with grievance and complaint procedures, legal case management, and/or alternative dispute resolution;
• Strong interviewing skills;
• Strong attention to organization, detail, and accuracy;
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• Discretion and maturity in dealing with confidential information;
• Comfort working in rural areas, including onsite at farms (outdoors) for extended periods of time;
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and handling competing priorities in a fast-paced setting with irregular hours;
• Demonstrated commitment to human rights; and
• Desire to work closely with people of different nationalities, gender, and education levels.
