Job Description:

Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3, based in Alameda, CA, is seeking candidates for an Assistant House Counsel staff position. This is an unusual opportunity for an experienced labor attorney to work with a large local union in various areas of labor law, including arbitrations, private and public sector administrative proceedings, and advising union staff on job actions and collective bargaining matters. This person will work alongside the Union’s House Counsel. Current admission to the California bar is required.

A successful candidate will have at least three (3) years’ experience in union-side labor and employment law. Preferred experience includes experience with building trades, NLRB, PERB, internal union regulation, grievance handling, private sector and public section negotiations, non-profit governance and have strong advocacy skills and a commitment to the labor movement.
