Media Operations Specialist

Job Description:
The Media Operations Specialist is a person who manages our internal and external website. Activities in which the Media Operations Specialist participate in include managing, supporting and updating the content of our internal and external communications website (OE3 intranet). This often requires providing daily updates to the website, adding new job postings, updating the union staff directory and providing daily news updates as appropriate. Providing sound editing and uploading of our monthly union podcasts as well as participation in the daily operations of the Public Relations Department are key areas of focus for this position. This person will also assist the Public Relations Department in preparing for union events, such as golf tournaments and union-wide meetings.

Key areas of responsibility and focus also include:

  • Supporting OE3’s training center events online.
  • Providing updates and posting those updates via our Mobile App, which includes push notifications, creating events, calendar updates and content changes.
  • Creating and supporting e-mail blasts to over 1,000 users as directed by the Public Relations Director.
  • Creating and editing policies and procedures related to the intranet.
  • Partnering with the IT Department for network support.

Minimum requirements:

  • Experience and intermediate knowledge using WordPress.
  • Experience and intermediate knowledge using Adobe Suites.
  • Experience and intermediate knowledge using Adobe Creative Suite for graphic.
  • Experience with coding, servers, video editing, YouTube content, IT background and Mac computers a plus.
  • 1-3 years of media operations experience is preferred.
  • Degree in communications or graphic design is preferred.

This person must be prepared to perform job duties in high stress (crisis management) situations. This person must also be prepared to travel, using various modes of transportation in all types of weather conditions, to urban, rural and remote locations as needed and work during irregular and extended hours, including nights and weekends as needed. This person must be capable of adapting to frequently changing laws, regulations, personnel and corporate philosophies. This person must also work in an independent manner without support staff.

The Media Operations Specialist must believe in, and be loyal to the trade union movement. A highly motivated self-starter, this person is professional in both attitude and appearance. This person must be dedicated, flexible and adaptable with a willingness to commit to continual learning. The Media Operations Specialist must demonstrate common sense, diplomacy and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) are required, including a level of literacy capable of reading and interpreting documents and information. Due to the confidential nature of this work, discretion and integrity are mandatory.
