This is currently a REMOTE position
for covering the state of Vermont

AFT Vermont is hiring a smart, motivated Organizer who is willing to work hard for social justice at the workplace and across Vermont.

AFT Vermont:

• is a democratic, organizing labor union
• is the fastest growing union in Vermont
• has a majority women membership and leadership

We organize to win better wages, respect, and improvements at work and in the statehouse.
This position’s initial assignment will be to organize new higher education and/or healthcare professionals into our union.

We are looking for a team member who has:

• Experience as a union organizer (Experience as a union member/leader a plus)
• Experience working in healthcare and/or higher education a plus
• The ability to recruit, mentor and train new members and leaders
• The ability to work independently, solve problems, manage time and priorities
• The ability to work long and irregular hours
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and ability to support elected leaders
• Strong listening, speaking and written communication skills
• The ability to master our database and communication tools
• A commitment to building worker power in Vermont for the long haul
• An automobile and valid driver’s license (required)

*Note: This position will be all remote for the current time, but will transition to include face to face organizing meetings in Vermont when it is safe to do so.

Compensation: Competitive salary dependent on experience. Benefits include medical insurance, 401K and generous paid time off benefits.
