The Ohio Nurses Association (www.ohnurses.org), Columbus, OH seeks a Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Registered nurse preferred.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field, (e.g. public policy, labor relations or business) or juris doctorate (JD) required.
  • Five years’ experience in a senior leadership position including knowledge and experience in complex organizations, managing staff, collective bargaining, health care public policy, and political action required.
  • Knowledge of contemporary issues in health care and professional associations a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, fiscal, and leadership skills required.

Management Responsibilities

  • Advance ONA’s vision and mission and advise the board on programs, policies and services aligned with that vision and mission.
  • Manage, execute, and be a steward of the organization’s budget, finances and other resources.
  • Support planning, coordination and implementation of programs and services across the organization.
  • Effectively oversee ONA’s human resource management through assigning, supervising, and evaluating staff
  • Explore, coordinate, and facilitate organizational resources available through national partners and affiliates, and act as a liaison to those partners and affiliates.

Specific Responsibilities
Oversee ONA programs and activities, including but not limited to: :

  • collective bargaining, contract enforcement, and member representation,
  • organizing activities, within existing and in potential bargaining units,
  • policy and legislative work,
  • communications and publications, and
  • continuing education
  • Represent ONA in dealings with the Governor, the Ohio Legislature, all governing boards, other public entities.
  • Represent, with the ONA President, ONA’s interests at the local, state, and national level.
  • Serve as a public spokesperson for the union as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
