Receptionist – SEIU Local 509

SEIU Local 509 is a fast growing, progressive union representing nearly 20,000 state workers, human service workers, higher education faculty and family child care providers in Massachusetts. This is an in-house position within the administrative department.

Example of Duties:

  • Answer and field all incoming calls at front desk
  • Collect and distribute all incoming mail and manage mailboxes
  • Maintain internal electronic meeting calendar
  • Data entry
  • Book rooms for internal and external groups
  • Order food for all internal meeting
  • Maintain reception area, sign-in sheets and directory
  • Inventory and order office supplies
  • Assist in completing mailings
  • Fill building work orders
  • Provide assistance to meeting participants
  • Assemble welcome packets and internal forms and documents
  • Assists during events with registration, setup and logistics
  • Other administrative duties as needed

Supervision Received:
This position is supervised by the Director of Administration

Qualifications:

  • Ability to be flexible and balance several projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and typing
  • Ability to communicate well and function across the sectors and tiers of the union
  • Openness to learning new systems
  • Attention to detail and grammar
