Research Analyst

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is seeking a Research Analyst to join its Research Department.
The candidate will work independently to produce research that supports the union’s organizing and bargaining efforts. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and fast learner with strong research and writing abilities and a commitment to workers’ rights.
Responsibilities
Major duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research individuals and companies using a wide variety of sources, including databases, on-line sources, and industry publications
- Conduct company and industry analyses and adapt them for a variety of audiences
- Perform comprehensive research on labor, economic, corporate, and industry topics
- Analyze financial statements, economic statistics, and wage and employment data
- Research and write reports on the economy, industry trends, corporate finances, trade issues, and other labor-related topics.
Qualifications
- A B.A. or B.S. degree and at least one year of relevant research and/or organizing experience
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of strategic campaign approaches, labor law, corporate finance and governance, and economics with an understanding of relevant regulatory and public policy issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities
- Creative problem-solving and analytical-thinking skills as well as the ability to contribute new ideas and incorporate feedback
