California Nurses Association/National Nurses United (CNA/NNU) invites applications from academic and political educators to join our growing education program. NNU educators support the patient advocacy, leadership, and social justice unionism of our members. Educators develop and teach curriculum for continuing education courses, NNU’s online certificate program in Women’s Global Health Leadership (Rutgers University), as well as a variety of labor and popular education trainings and workshops. Subject matter ranges from workers’ rights and workplace democracy; the political economy of health and healthcare; equity and social justice; to environmental justice and global solidarity.

We seek applicants with a record of teaching excellence and creative methodologies; a background in and/or research related to social justice; and a strong commitment to advancing registered nurses’ movement for health justice.

Position: This is a permanent full-time position based in the San Francisco Bay area; which includes periods of extensive travel. Teaching and travel obligations vary according to organizational need, calendar, and program growth.

Salary and Benefits: Excellent salary depending on experience, and benefits including comprehensive family health & dental plan, and generous pension.

Basic Qualifications: An advanced degree in a relevant discipline or interdisciplinary field (PhD preferred), a commitment to social justice unionism, the ability to work collaboratively, and a valid driver’s license. We encourage applicants from all disciplines, particularly: American/Cultural Studies, history, sociology/anthropology, economics, feminist studies, environmental studies, critical geography, international/global studies, political science, philosophy, science studies, and labor studies.
