Video Producer – Social Justice Union – Permanent Position with Full Benefits
 

National Nurses United (NNU) AFL-CIO is seeking a dynamic and talented Video Producer with a commitment to social justice and professional experience in social advocacy, and communications. The ideal candidate will have professional progressive experience and the ability to work in a demanding fast-paced environment to produce digital video.

NNU is the nation’s largest union and professional association of registered nurses, and at the forefront of national efforts to transform the market-driven healthcare industry in the U.S. to a single-payer style health care system, along with rekindling the movement for progressive social change.

NNU is also well known for negotiating premiere collective bargaining contracts for registered nurses, for sponsoring the nation’s foremost safe staffing law, for organizing campaigns that have made it one of the fastest-growing unions in the U.S., and for innovative, award-winning political campaigns. NNU has over 150,000 members in all 50 states.

This position is ideally based in Oakland, California but we are willing to consider candidates based in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities:
Duties include shooting video in the field including challenging run and gun assignments and interviews, and creating short videos for the web. The video producer works at the direction of the communications director to create digital video using Adobe CS editing software.

The video specialist will produce the following types of videos:

  • Short videos on labor and health care justice
  • Image grabs, clips, video round-ups and graphic builds for social media
  • Motion graphics sequences or explainers
  • Bumpers, promos, transitions and other video or motion elements

Skills Required:

  • Good working knowledge and experience with: Adobe CS on a Mac platform.
  • Extensive experience in video encoding and editing.
  • Experience conducting on-site interviews
  • Proficiency in using a variety of video cameras and audio equipment, including knowledge of or ability to quickly learn use of Canon EOS C100 and other Canon digital video cameras.
  • Must have Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite program skills compatible with video enhancement.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Video Producer with at least 3 years of producing high quality video
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to be a team player with a positive attitude, as well as the ability to work independently manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and focus on follow-up.
  • Experience working in the field, filming in a variety of locations, while problem solving everything from logistics to equipment issues.
  • Flexibility with work schedule as this position involves evening and weekend work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage, archive and maintain digital video files and determine best storage practices.
  • The ideal candidate will have an interest in labor unions, healthcare, and a commitment to social justice.

  • Spanish fluency preferred but not required.
