Temporary Full-Time Organizer

Based in San Rafael, CA
Purpose
The Marin County Association of Public Employees (MAPE) wishes to hire a full-time Organizer for six months to work with staff and members to build upon the membership organizing done during our 2018 contract bargaining campaign, which we settled hours before what would have been the first Marin County worker strike in 20 years.
MAPE represents approximately 1,300 rank and file employees of the County of Marin, more than half of the County’s workforce. Most MAPE members work within 15 miles of our office in San Rafael.
Primary Responsibilities
- Mapping and charting work locations
- Working with staff and member leaders to identify and develop more member leaders
- Assisting with member trainings
Job Requirements
- At least two years of experience as a union representative/organizer is preferred. A candidate with extensive experience as a member leader will be considered
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- An automobile
Salary and Benefits
- Bi-weekly salary range from $2,952.33 – $4,101.23, based upon experience
- Matching contribution to 401(k)
- Reimbursement for actual expenses including auto mileage at the IRS rate
