The Teamsters’ Benefits Department supports employees at the IBT headquarters as well as IBT affiliates, members, and retirees concerning health, welfare and retirement plan matters.
Description
The Benefits Department is looking for an Office Manager to provide supervisory assistance to the department and clerical staff to ensure all IBT and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed. Day-to-day functions include maintaining department calendars, maintaining department files, processing expense reports, scheduling meetings, coordinating events, approving department timesheets, formatting/editing correspondence/requests, processing purchase orders, assisting with/responding to routine calls, taking/maintaining the minutes for the various trusts that the department supports, inputting information into the multiemployer plan database and responding to requests for information from Teamster affiliates, departments, division, members, retirees, and the general public.
The Office Manager assists in establishing priorities and resolving problems in the Benefits Department, underpinned by the knowledge of the office’s role and understanding of the department’s programs and mission.
This position reports to the Director of the Benefits Department and serves as a liaison with all other benefits staff and provides support to other staff including some assistance to the Benefits Manager and Benefits/Special Projects Coordinator in duties related to the IBT health & welfare plan, including HIPPA, Benefit Trusts, and other related programs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred. CEBS a plus but not required.
- Two to three years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Knowledge of health & welfare and retirement plans preferred.
The IBT offers a robust total compensation package, including pension, 401(k), 100% employer-paid premium health & welfare plan, FICA reimbursement, and vacation & sick leave. Salary ranges from $50,000 to $75,000 depending upon relevant experience.
