Program Associate
Research to Practice (r2p)
Based in Silver Spring, MD
CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training (www.cpwr.com) is the non-profit 501(c)3 research, development and training arm of the North America’s Building Trades Unions, located in downtown Silver Spring, MD by metro and public parking. We are seeking a full-time Program Associate to join the Research to Practice (r2p) team. The Program Associate serves as a lead staff member in the r2p program and reports to the r2p Program Director.
CPWR’s research to practice (r2p) team is responsible for developing a body of research on effective translation, dissemination, and implementation research, as well as producing tools, resources and strategies to advance the use of evidenced-based safety and health interventions to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses in the construction industry.
Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting translation research, including identifying, developing, testing, and evaluating new types of translational products and dissemination strategies to advance the use of construction research findings and interventions.
- Assisting with process and impact evaluations of r2p initiatives and contributing to evaluation research.
- Participating in the planning and implementation of national-level safety and health campaigns, including working with stakeholders and government agencies, creating campaign-related materials, and assisting with related evaluation activities.
- Participating in and/or facilitating internal and external partnerships to promote research findings and products, identify opportunities to participate in new research and/or r2p efforts, and track progress.
- Contributing to the development and expansion of r2p tools and resources to aid researchers in dissemination and evaluation of their research findings.
- Assisting with the implementation of Center-funded researchers’ dissemination plans (r2p Roadmaps), including developing translational products and assisting with implementation.
- Assisting with the prioritization and dissemination of completed research.
- Contributing to ongoing communications initiatives, including websites and webinars.
- Assisting with planning for, and participating in, the Center’s annual r2p seminar and partnership workshop.
- Preparing and presenting results of r2p initiatives at government, industry, and research meetings.
- Drafting and publishing reports and articles in industry publications and peer-reviewed journals.
- Assisting with the preparation of progress reports and grant applications.
Limited national and local travel required.
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will have:
- At least 8 years of experience in research translation, dissemination, evaluation and/or health-related communications.
- A minimum of a master’s degree in public health, marketing, or health communications.
- Experience in research design and evaluation methods as well as developing monitoring and evaluations systems.
- Experience using both qualitative and quantitative research methods including developing and administering surveys, conducting focus groups and phone interviews, and analyzing collected data using analytic software programs.
- Proven ability to absorb detailed research results and produce clear, accurate information for general audiences.
- Proven ability to think critically and strategically, and to engage with internal and external stakeholders to identify and achieve common goals.
- Experience in writing reports and peer-reviewed journal articles.
- Excellent attention to detail and adherence to project timelines, deliverables, administrative duties, and reporting requirements.
- Flexibility in assigned duties and tasks, ability to show initiative and take on new responsibilities as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and/or experience translating research to practice a plus.
