Assistant Director of Training and Development

Based in Harrisburg, PA

PSEA is a labor organization representing 181,000 members who work in school and skilled nursing settings. We have been advocates for excellence in education since 1852.

This role functions as principal learning and development in-house expert and training model designer for the organization. The Assistant Director performs a role that is critical to the administrative infrastructure support of PSEA by planning, developing, and implementing association-wide developmental initiatives that optimize employee know-how and competencies for elevated service delivery/productivity, foster heightened member satisfaction, and improve overall business results.

The position’s strategic focus is: 1) Perform as a principal facilitator of employee training and implementation processes; 2) Assist Human Resources with assessments; 3) Develop proposals for grand-scale learning and developmental programs that align with and support PSEA; and 4) Conceive, establish, and execute instructional designs and interventions that build greater organization effectiveness and performance capacity, as well as, help managers and others proactively assess and define their unit’s learning needs. This is accomplished through such program venues that provide for orientation and entry planning, staff development, change/cultural adaptation, performance and work capacity improvement, project management practices, presentation and meeting facilitation skills, and team effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is proactive and thrives in a people-oriented environment where interaction is a key component of maintaining engagement through collaborative partnership at all levels of the organization. This position will require flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to lead and implement a wide range of projects.

A Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Business Administration, or a closely related field and six years of progressively responsible administrative and organizational and employee development experience is required.
