Clerical Position

AFSCME District Council 88 represents over 13,000 workers throughout the state including county, township, borough, and city level, and in health care and social service facilities throughout Pennsylvania. We organize in the workplace to improve wages, benefits, and working conditions for public and private non-profit Pennsylvania employees – those who protect and serve the citizens of the commonwealth.

Job Title: Clerical
Location: Plymouth Meeting
Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Reports to: District Council Director

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To include, but are not limited to those listed below. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares Grievance Movement letters – writing, printing, scanning, uploading, filing and updates system.
  • Processes Membership Deduction and PAL cards including drop-outs.
  • Updates bad addresses.
  • Processes mailings for Local meetings, elections and ratifications.
  • Creates ballots and check off sheets for Local elections and ratifications.
  • Sends and tracks invoices for mailings.
  • Prepares Local Contracts – formatting, scanning, intent to bargain paperwork, wish lists, financial requests, financial analysis from International, bargaining timelines, and printing contract booklets.
  • Creates ads and flyers.
  • Prepares Local Constitution changes as needed.
  • Prepares PLRB paperwork and letters as needed.
  • Answers telephone, direct calls, takes and emails messages to Director and appropriate staff.
  • Opens mail and directs to appropriate staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Typing: 40 wpm
  • Ability to perform duties on the computer utilizing the appropriate application and other office software products (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc.).
  • Ability to use office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax, postage machine, etc.
  • Performs duties with neatness and accuracy.
  • Be dependable, responsible, have initiative, and demonstrate good telephone skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with Council Director, AFSCME personnel and members.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years work experience preferred.
