Labor Relations Staff Attorney

Based in Washington, DC

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association, AFL-CIO (“NATCA”), the labor union representing federal-sector and private-sector air traffic controllers and other aviation safety professionals, has an immediate opening for a Labor Relations Staff Attorney in its Washington, D.C. headquarters office.

The Labor Relations Staff Attorney is responsible for:

  1. representing NATCA as an advocate in hearings before arbitrators, the MSPB, the FLRA, and other forums, as assigned
  2. representing the organization in briefings concerning changes in working conditions, and conducting midterm bargaining
  3. providing verbal and written guidance to NATCA’s National Executive Board and Local representatives on the administration of collective bargaining agreements, the Federal Service Labor-Management Relations Statute, and the National Labor Relations Act.

Qualified applicants should have at least 1-2 years of relevant post-law school experience and should be able to demonstrate their commitment to the labor movement. Applicants should possess excellent legal research and writing skills, be capable of handling many complex assignments with minimal supervision, feel comfortable interacting with various groups of people, and have the ability to meet tight deadlines. Eligibility for admission to the District of Columbia bar is required (if not already admitted).
