SUMMARY
Actors’ Equity Association, the union of professional theater actors and stage managers in the United States, is hiring a Finance Associate in its New York office. Actors’ Equity is a national union affiliated with the AFL-CIO, with 51,000 members – and growing. The Finance Associate handles matters related to ADP Payroll, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable operations of the department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare weekly payroll, related reports and transactions and maintain compliance with various government agencies and departments.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare transactions and entries to accounts in the various subsidiaries of Actors’ Equity Association.
- Maintain the Accounts Receivable and manage the collection of open accounts nationally.
- Prepare bank deposits in the New York office.
- Assist in the Accounts Payable operations.
- Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and prepare electronic banking transactions and banking reports in the National office.
- Cross train in all accounting department transactions to cover for vacations and vacancy.
- Daily reconciliation of bank accounts and the reconciliation of automated payments in the CRM system.
- Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases and filing systems.
- Prepare special reports and assist in special projects.
- Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
- Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION
- Salary range $52,000 – $57,000

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Experience working with ADP payroll and workforce now, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting software, and the suite of Microsoft office products.
- Direct experience in payroll processing, labor union accounting, not-for-profit accounting, auditing, or banking is desirable.
- Excellent written verbal, interpersonal and problem solving skills required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion
- BA or demonstrated equivalent work experience required, in accounting a plus
