The Carpenters Industrial Council invites affiliate members to apply for the position of Organizer. All Organizers work at the discretion of the Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Regional Council. Organizers report directly to the Director of Organizing. Applicants should expect to travel throughout the United States, and must be willing to work long hours and weekends. Organizers work wherever assigned, not necessarily at their local union or close to their home.

Newly hired organizers are paid on a salaried basis of 40 hours per week and are exempt, salaried employees. The Carpenters Industrial Council is an equal opportunity employer.

In addition, if you are offered and accept the position, you will not be permitted to start work until you complete the Form l-9 and present document(s) required by the Form 1-9.

*NOTE: The Carpenters Industrial Council is a labor organization governed by Federal Law. All Candidates for employment must comply within the rules and regulations as stated in the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act of 1959, (29 U.S.C 504) Section 504*.

Qualifications:

  • Must be (or join) a member in good standing of a local union in the jurisdiction for the Carpenters Industrial Council
  • Bilingual – Spanish speaking, reading, and writing
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Possess a strong work ethic
  • Be committed to the principles and goals of the Union
  • Have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance

Must be willing to undergo the following:

  • Comprehensive Background Check
  • Reading retention and language literacy test
  • Computer skills test
  • Attend a UBC 3-day evaluation class
  • Attend interview with hiring committee

Subject to the Executive Secretary Treasurer, organizers should expect, but not be limited to the following:

  • Work hours needed to complete assigned tasks
  • Work Saturdays and Sundays when necessary
  • Conduct web based research
  • Extensive travel
  • Participate fully in union activities
  • Public speaking
  • Attend continuing educational classes
  • Be a team player

Wages and Benefits:

  • Excellent pay, based on skills. Starting at $55,000. Health, vision, dental & life insurance. Pension plans.
