Summary:
The Membership/Benefits Specialist reports to the Director of Information Technology and works independently to:

  1. Work with and ensure accuracy of all member/potential member system data.
  2. Ability to / Learn to extract/analyze and load data in variety of systems for use by the department and organization.
  3. Develop and deliver training programs state-wide on the various supported systems including NEA IMS, membership enrollment, dues processes, benefits programs or other membership systems.

The membership/benefits specialist assists with a variety of FEA sponsored events that occur statewide and will require travel. Responsibilities include serving as a resource to state and local leaders, FEA members and national, state and local staff. Coordination and daily management of membership benefits programs for the state.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; Two years of college or training/experience in data processing or data analysis preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office® Suite 2013 or newer, including Outlook, Excel, Word.
  • Experience using Excel and Access databases for data analysis preferred.
  • Must possess ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must possess ability to understand departmental operations and procedures.
  • Understanding of FEA, AFT and NEA membership and dues processing requirements.

General Responsibilities:

  • Identify, contribute to, and support new opportunities to advance FEA’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
  • Perform all work assignments in a manner that effectively and efficiently utilizes FEA resources.
  • Contribute to and support the development and implementation of departmental and interdepartmental programs and services.
  • Perform all duties, responsibilities, and assignments within the guidelines outlined in the FSO/FEA Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with FEA Policies and Procedures.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date member and non-member data and files
  • Correspond with individual members, prospective members and local affiliates regarding membership eligibility and requirements.
  • Assist the membership team with standard processes throughout the year such as Fiscal Year End
  • Serve as staff liaison to NEA and AFT concerning membership processing system issues.
  • Serve as resource to service unit staff and local leaders concerning membership and benefits systems.
  • Provide training on supported systems to local and state users. Training may be delivered on an individual or group basis depending on specific requirements, and may be delivered onsite or by remote electronic methods.
  • Assist with monthly reports and data load processes across systems.
  • Provide membership status reports to FEA management on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with/at various FEA conferences and events.
  • Work with statewide membership benefits programs and vendors on a daily basis.
  • Train on and work with the Voter Action Network system.
  • Maintain records of current FEA affiliate officers and staff.
  • Maintain file of contact information for all Locals.
  • Maintain and process returned membership cards.
  • Respond to or redirect messages sent to statewide website Webmaster account.
  • Identify membership issues (multiple ID #numbers for same member/membership in multiple locals, etc.) in membership systems and fix or refer to local offices for resolution.
  • Assist members in logging in to FEA, NEA and AFT sites.
  • Assist members requesting information on FEA, NEA and AFT member benefits.
  • Provide Access member marketing kits for distribution to locals (presidents, governance board members), management and staff.
  • Monitor, maintain and correspond in a timely manner to requests and tasks put forth.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Salary per the negotiated agreement between the Florida Education Association and the Florida Staff Organization based on credited experience. Employer-provided hospitalization, medical, dental, vision, life and long-term-disability insurance; employer-paid retirement; vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
