Assistant Counsel or National Field Representative

Based in Oakland, CA

An Assistant Counsel/National Field Representative position is available in the National Treasury Employees Union’s (NTEU) Oakland, California Field Office. The position comes with a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Assistant Counsel serves as a liaison between NTEU chapters and headquarters. Travel is required. Duties include internal chapter development and organizing, chapter training, representing NTEU and employees in arbitration and other administrative forums, and membership recruitment. A successful candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: preparing and presenting cases for hearings; legal writing, including brief writing; designing and implementing internal issue organizing campaigns; participating in representational election campaigns; and working with organizations to build their membership and improve their operations. A successful candidate will also have demonstrated leadership capabilities.
