The Hotel Trades Council (HTC), AFL-CIO, the union for hotel workers in New York State and Northern New Jersey, is currently accepting applications from creative and design-savvy candidates for the role of Media Specialist.
The Media Specialist plays a key role in the union’s organizing department, designing digital, print, and video materials for organizing drives, campaigns, member outreach and mobilization, and more. This role is exciting and demanding; the work entails close communication with union organizers and leadership to execute our strategy to win fights and strengthen our organization. Long campaign hours will regularly apply.
Successful candidates should have a proven track record producing print, digital media and video. The ability to work under pressure, be flexible and organized, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and pay thorough attention to detail is a must. Candidates should also have a demonstrated passion for social justice and be eager to contribute their skills to improve the lives of working people. Familiarization with unions and the labor movement is also a plus.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Photography and videography at union events
- Management & Maintenance of photo archive
- Video editing for website content, and other purposes
- Slideshow design
- Design and Layout of printed materials, including the union’s quarterly member newsletter
- Web Design (front end)
Candidates should have aptitude with the following software:
Pages, Numbers, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, FileMaker Pro

Salary & Benefits:
Starting salary: $53,000
