Labor Educator – Editor of Workday Minnesota

Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN

OVERVIEW:
The Labor Education Service (LES) is seeking a full-time labor educator to join our staff with primary responsibilities as editor of the Workday Minnesota project. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and creative communicator with a commitment to economic and social justice.

LES is a program of the University of Minnesota, located in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, communities known for their affordable cost of living, high quality of life, diverse neighborhoods and cultural opportunities. LES is the only educational program in the state specifically focused on the needs of Minnesota workers and their organizations. Our mission is to equip workers with the knowledge-based tools to protect and advance their rights and responsibilities in a changing global socio-economic environment. An integral component of this mission is the use of media such as video and web initiatives like workdayminnesota.org. Through these efforts, we foster economic vitality, ethical relations and social justice in the workplace, at home and in the community.

Workday Minnesota is a project produced by LES in cooperation with labor and community organizations. It consists of a website and social media that provide news and resources on activities and issues important to working people. While the editor is based in the Twin Cities, Workday serves the entire state. The editor has primary responsibility for this project and collaborates with other members of the LES media team.

Launched in 2000, the Workday website has become a trusted source of information and has won numerous awards for its content and design. The new editor will build on this foundation and bring a fresh perspective to coverage and the use of social media.
