Position Purpose: The Receptionist welcomes visitors and answers phones for the Local 26 IBEW-NECA Joint Trust Funds located in Lanham, Maryland.

The position responsibilities include but not necessarily limited to:

  • Welcomes Visitors and Direct visitors to appropriate area.
  • Answer Phones and Transfer to appropriate recipient using established procedures.
  • Updates requests for forms, documents and SPDs.
  • Prints report and labels to fulfill mail requests
  • Processes any incoming mail or deliveries and Outgoing Mail.
  • Maintains security by following procedures and monitoring logbook.
  • Maintains safe and clean front desk area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Process request for Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Pre-Authorizations
  • Order United Healthcare ID Cards
  • Process United Healthcare Pending Report and Cease and Billing Report
  • Process Personal Representative Forms and Bad Address
  • Assist with Mailings
  • Escort Vendors to appropriate area.
  • Stock Kitchen with Supplies and Snacks

Any other duties deemed necessary by the manager

Education & Experience:

  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn customer service software applications. Duties require professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to type 30 wpm. This is normally acquired through one to three years of office experience.

Physical Demands

  • Very light physical effort. Typical of most office jobs. The employee is often seated while performing duties of the position successfully.
  • Frequent walking or standing is required.
  • The hands are used to write, type, key and handle or feel small controls or objects.
  • The employee must frequently talk and hear.
