SEIU 775, Washington and Montana’s long-term care union, is hiring a full-time summer Research and Policy Intern. This is a full-time, paid summer internship based in our Seattle Headquarters.
Principal duties and activities include:
As the SEIU 775 Summer Research and Policy intern, you will work closely with our research and policy team to research, analyze, and develop a policy proposal from scratch. You will learn to create a brand-new data set using public court records, and systematically analyze the data to inform policy decisions.
You will also have the opportunity to learn research best practices and techniques, how to create presentations about research and data, improve your Excel wizardry, and participate in local marches, rallies, and other labor movement events.

- Strong critical thinking skills
- Desire to use policy to improve people’s lives

- Ability to read complex documents and succinctly summarize what you have read
- Interest in creating and delivering presentations about data or research
- Excellent writing skills
- Familiarity with Excel
Desired qualifications:
- Experience using research to analyze, develop, or advocate for public policy
- Ability to communicate what numerical data means about what happened in the real world
- Ability to identify inequity or injustice when reviewing policy, court records, or data
- Basic statistical analysis skills (e.g. grouping and visualizing data, linear regression analyses)

Compensation:
As an intern at SEIU 775, you will not be included in the collective bargaining agreement, however, your benefits will be top-notch, including comprehensive health benefits: major medical, dental and vision, cell phone allowance, ORCA Transit card, and a 401(K) Plan. Your hourly wage will be $15 per hour.
