The IUE-CWA is the Industrial Division of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). We represent a force of over 100,000 active and retired men and women united collectively to seek dignity on the job and a secure future for ourselves, our children and all future generations.

IUE-CWA is seeking a campaign assistant to work on a variety of campaigns under our national political program. The position will focus heavily on increasing member engagement on key issues affecting working people – including trade, collective bargaining rights, and reforming our democracy by promoting voting rights and campaign finance reform.

The position will entail working directly with union members to develop their skills to educate and organize their fellow members to take action on political issues. The campaign assistant will work with local union leaders to develop a plan to become more engaged in political work at the local and state level, and to participate in the national priorities of the CWA political program.

Ideally the candidate will reside in Ohio, or be willing to relocate to. Frequent travel to multiple states will be required. The position will focus on visiting worksites (frequently factory setting), and training and developing members skills in this setting.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate successful experience in organizing, or equivalent experience getting individuals to engage in a campaign or direct action. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working with our members, who come from diverse backgrounds.

This is a 1-year assignment that could be renewed. Competitive pay and benefits, commensurate with experience.

A Campaign Lead may be employed in support of an organizing, political or legislative campaign or another CWA­led movement building project. A Campaign Lead must be able to develop elements of a campaign plan and execute them. The position would report to the appropriate Administrative Staff.

  1. Wages: $64,141- $81,389 Annually (Effective 10/1/2017)
  2. Reports to the CWA Organizing Director or appropriate administrative staff
  3. Other terms and conditions as per the Memorandum of Agreement.
  4. This position will not be used to replace regular full time CWA Staff Representatives or District Organizing Coordinators, or in lieu of hiring regular full time staff for permanent positions/vacancies.
