About the SEIU Pennsylvania State Council:
The SEIU Pennsylvania State Council, which represents over 80,000 workers in the areas of health care, public services, apparel manufacturing/distribution, and property services, coordinates the joint political, legislative, organizing, and long-term planning work of SEIU Locals in the Commonwealth. We are part of SEIU, the largest and fastest-growing union in North America.

About the Position:
The Legislative Director will primarily focus on driving the offensive priorities of SEIU’s locals and the State Council as whole, handling defensive needs as necessary. This person will develop winning issue campaigns by building and maintaining relationships within the legislature, developing strategies for member-engagement around the union’s legislative priorities, and working together with local leaders, staff, and partner organizations.

The Legislative Director also advises and, in certain cases, drives SEIU’s political strategy.

Direction and Decision Making:
The Legislative Director reports directly to the State Council Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

Skills/Background:
Four or more years of legislative and/or political experience with one or more of the following types of organizations: progressive issue advocacy organizations, labor unions, community organizations, progressive elected officials and political campaigns. Proven ability to build relationships with elected officials and other decision-makers. We are focused on finding a candidate with a commitment to SEIU values, a strong work-ethic, and a willingness to go above and beyond.

The position is based out of Harrisburg, PA. Work in the field and travel is required.

Salary Range:
The position offers a competitive salary and benefit package. Specific salary will be commensurate with experience.
