Local 21 is seeking candidates for Political Director to lead the Local’s growing political program through its four geographical areas and more than 50 chapters. Local 21’s political program is integrated into the Local’s collective bargaining, contract administration, internal and external organizing, and government relations programs.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Political Director is responsible for development, oversight and management of the union’s political and legislative work.

Staff work closely with a unified Executive Committee and talented Chapter leaders. Local 21 is politically stable, and strategically and financially very prepared for Janus.

Minimum Qualifications
A four-year college degree and experience as a paid political union staff person (preferably in the public sector) is required. Campaign organizing experience and familiarity with California and Bay Area politics and politicians highly desired. Good writing and public speaking skills are essential.
