Campaign Coordinator

Largest industrial Union in North America seeks innovative and energetic individuals from varying backgrounds that are interested in working on ongoing strategic campaigns.
The USW Strategic Campaigns Department is responsible for the coordination of membership mobilization programs to support bargaining and strategic organizing campaigns. These campaigns are varied based on the circumstances – some are small scale, local union driven contract campaigns while others are heavily resourced corporate campaigns, or somewhere in between.
This position involves:
- Conducting leverage research on employers and targets – from publicly-traded companies, to private companies to non-profits and the public sector
- Providing analysis of research findings and identifying escalating opportunities for campaign activities
- Creating written material to support contract and corporate campaigns including leaflets, newsletters, press releases, etc. in a fast-paced environment
- Working with rank and file members and union leaders in a variety of sectors to develop and implement strategies and tactics
- Delivering Building Power and Labor Dispute Preparation trainings – programs designed to prepare local unions for tough bargaining and beyond
- Identifying potential allies and effectively reaching out to engage them
Duration – This is a full-time, project staff position with an initial term of one year. Based on performance evaluations during the initial term, the individual will be considered for a permanent position.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Ability to quickly develop written materials (i.e. newsletters, handbills, press releases)
- Ability to conduct extensive leverage research on varied targets
- Experience conducting trainings with union and/or community members
- Bachelor’s degree and a commitment to the labor movement
- At least 3 years’ experience in the labor movement
- Candidates should be self-motivated, able to work in teams and on multiple projects simultaneously
- Frequent travel required
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or French a plus

Salary – Salary range is $55,000 to $80,000, with placement on the range commensurate with experience and education. Health care benefits provided by employer.
