Training/Education Programme Development Professional

The Society of Energy Professionals (IFPTE Local 160) seeks a Training/Education Programme Development Professional for a six-month contract position located in Toronto Ontario.

Reporting to the Staff Director, the successful applicant will have primary responsibility for the development of new and the revision of existing Society education resources, including materials, workshop designs and delivery methodologies.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus training in principles and methods in adult education and the Certified Training Development Professional designation or equivalent (normally a certificate in training design and development plus a minimum of four years full time experience doing design and development work) are required.

At least 10 years previous related experience, as a developer of training and education programs. Experience in developing education materials and programmes for trade unions would be an advantage.

A demonstrated commitment to the labour movement.

A demonstrated ability to write clearly and to produce training and promotional materials relating to technical, legal and social matters, including statutes and case law, and to compose correspondence and proposals.

Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, including ability to listen sensitively, instruct and teach, persuade and motivate, explain, reassure, demonstrate leadership, and respond to challenges.

This is a temporary unionized position. The job is based on a 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, with some requirement for evening and weekend work, and overnight travel.

The Society (IFPTE 160) is a trade union representing 8,000 professional workers across Ontario.
