Job Summary: BGA is seeking a full-time temporary Michigan Organizer, ideally based in southeast Michigan. The Organizer will be responsible for engaging and mobilizing working people, local leaders, and companies in the automotive sector and raising awareness of local manufacturing gains in advanced, clean, and efficient vehicles and technology, and the need to build on this success. The position will work with labor, environmental, community, and other organizations to build support for policies and actions to sustain and create good jobs in today and tomorrow’s technology across the vehicle and transportation sector.

The Michigan Organizer works closely with BGA staff and Michigan BGA member organizations to develop and execute initiatives, campaigns, and communications and policy/legislative strategy. While principally focused on the state level, the Organizer may also be tasked to engage in federal and regional energy, transportation, and clean technology initiatives. The Organizer reports to the Director of Vehicles and Advanced Transportation Program, and works closely with the Organizing and Communications Directors to coordinate their work.

This is a nine-month position, with possibility of extension.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Michigan Organizer will help develop and implement the initiatives of the BlueGreen Alliance to build a strong, fair, clean economy, and increase collaborative efforts of labor and environmental organizations across a range of issues.

Additional Information: Will consider either consultant contractor or employee. This is a new nine month funded position. Periodic travel is required.
