The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) Great Lakes Region seeks a Research Manager to help design and execute cutting-edge strategic campaigns to grow union membership and improve the lives of construction workers in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Northwest Wisconsin.

The Research Manager will be responsible for building a research program that guides organizational decision-making, moves campaigns forward, and leverages the expertise of leaders, members, allies, and industry partners. The Research Manager will join a dozen-person organizing staff and work closely with nearly 40 staff who serve our District Council, Local Unions, and affiliated training and marketing funds.

LIUNA is a progressive union of construction workers and public service employees. A half-million strong, we are united through collective bargaining agreements that provide family-supporting pay, high-quality benefits, and career opportunities for our members. LIUNA represents 14,000 members in Minnesota, North Dakota, and Northwestern Wisconsin, and is at the forefront of local efforts to raise standards, halt abuses, and promote equity in the construction industry.

Over the past five years, LIUNA has worked in Minnesota and North Dakota to secure hundreds of millions of dollars for public school construction; raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to cover unpaid oilfield workers’ wages; led the charge for corporate accountability and better regulation of the energy and pipeline industries; fought to eliminate public safety hazards on mall renovation projects; and been at the forefront of efforts to guarantee that local workers get a fair shot at local construction jobs.
