The Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC) has an opening for a Legal Counsel III in its Madison, WI office. WEAC, affiliated with the National Education Association, is a labor organization which represents public sector educational employees and employs four in-house attorneys at its Madison and Milwaukee offices.

Legal Counsel III attorneys handle organizationally significant civil litigation, complex administrative hearings and appellate work in a challenging political environment. They also provide training and advice on labor and employment law matters and governance issues and participate in the formulation of WEAC legal policy and strategies.

Candidates should have a minimum of four years civil litigation experience, preferably in labor and/or employment law. Candidates must be committed to advocating for unions and public education, possess strong research and writing skills and be able to handle a demanding work load in a fast-paced environment. WEAC provides an excellent salary and benefit package as part of its collective bargaining agreement with the United Staff Union.
