Staff Organizer
(Half Time)

University of Illinois at Chicago United Faculty (AFT/IFT/AAUP Local 6456) represents approximately 1100 full-time tenure-track (TT) and non-tenure-track (NTT) faculty members across 11 colleges and 60+ departments at the University of Illinois at Chicago. We’re eager to collaborate with a hard-working, imaginative organizer to help build our union.

UIC United Faculty seeks a half-time Staff Organizer. Starting date is negotiable, but no later than January 7, 2019.

Duties

• build membership (office visits, one-on-one conversations)
• identify and recruit activists and leaders
• mobilize members for job actions

Required Experience

• superior oral communication skills

Preferred Experience

• experience working as an organizer
• experience as a higher education instructor and/or union member
• experience in higher education organizing

Salary commensurate with experience; includes benefits.
