Citizen Action of New York is one of the fastest-growing statewide grassroots organizations in the country. We fight for social, racial and economic justice, and an America that works for all of us.  Our organizing campaigns focus on issues such as education, health care, campaign finance reform, progressive taxation, and consumer issues.  In the Capital Region, we are organizing communities and volunteers around issues of education, community schools, health care and environmental justice. The Capital Region Chapter has also become a focal point in our statewide organizing campaigns to improve pay, benefits and conditions for low wage workers and working families.

The Fight for $15 campaign demands a $15 living wage and the right to form a union without retaliation for all fast food workers. It is one of the largest and most exciting organizing campaigns for low wage workers in the country.

Citizen Action of New York has eight regional grassroots offices, including the office based in the Capital Region. We are currently seeking a Fight for $15 Organizer for the Capital Region office.

Job Description: Main duties are to recruit fast food workers to join the Fight for $15 and a Union and develop leadership to create worker power in fast food restaurants.

Salary/Benefits: This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $40,600 and benefits, as well as reimbursement for cell phone charges.

Candidate Requirements: Prior organizing experience required. Must have bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking capability. Must also have a reliable, insured car and a valid driver’s license. Must be flexible and willing to work long hours, evenings, and weekends when needed.
