Summary: SEIU 775 is the long-term care workers union, representing 43,000 home care and nursing home workers. We are a leader in the progressive community and take bold and aggressive approaches to politics and organizing. Our daily work is designed to unite workers, and especially long-term care workers, and to hold politicians accountable for quality care and quality jobs.
We are seeking a talented and creative person to help with the continued development and implementation of our ambitious electronic, new media and print communications program. The successful candidate will help develop and maintain a highly interactive virtual community, and integrate traditional communications platforms with emerging new media.
Job Description: Principal duties and responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a highly interactive virtual community for SEIU 775 members, long-term care consumers, and other low-wage workers and their families.
- Develop messaging and produce traditional and new media communications for organizing, member engagement, bargaining, and legislative campaigns.
- Use multiple communications platforms and develop targeted communications for use in organizing and member engagement campaigns, and for presentations and conferences.
- Write creative and accurate copy for a wide variety of communications platforms including, but not limited to, email, web, video, brochure and newsletter formats.
- Proficiency and experience using data analysis to develop targeted communications strategies, messages and products.
- Provide creative and accurate editing of all copy produced by other staff or SEIU 775 leaders.
- Proficient in use of graphic design and video editing software.
- Research and make recommendations on existing and emerging communications technologies that may assist organizers, communicators, and other SEIU 775 staff and leaders.
- Willingness to work long, irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, plus overnight travel is required.
Job Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a communications-related field is preferred. At least three to five years of experience in communications, marketing and/or organizing communications position. Women and persons of color are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
Compensation: Staff union pay scale ranges from $53,500 to $72,800, based on experience.
