Operations and Support Assistant
Based in Columbus, OH
The Ohio Education Association (OEA) is seeking a person for a challenging and rewarding position as an Operations and Support Assistant. In support of OEA’s strategic priorities, this position performs receptionist, clerical, printing and mailing functions in the headquarters office located in downtown Columbus. Essential Duties:
- Provides customer service to visitors, to callers, to staff and to members
- Greets persons entering establishment, determines nature and purpose of visit and directs them to specific destinations
- Operates telephone to answer, screen and forward calls, providing information and taking messages
- Performs clerical support tasks such as proofreading, opening mail, and transcribing handwritten information; maintains and updates meeting room calendars and phone lists
- Notifies staff of front-desk deliveries
- Uses current computer software applications to enter data and process information in accordance with Association policies and procedures
- Operates office equipment, printing, duplicating, bindery, and mailing equipment and postage machines
- Creates and/or maintains paper or electronic filing systems
Significant Duties:
- Receives, sorts, processes and distributes mail
- Assists with preparation of meeting materials
- Communicates information to managers, co-workers and others in person, by telephone, in written form or e-mail
- Attends staff meetings and trainings
- Provides input into decision-making as it impacts associate staff functions
- Performs duties related to job description
- Provides support for organizing plans and practices for engaging members
- Maintains confidential records and files
- Operates in a collaborative team environment
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- One year of receptionist or call center customer service experience required
- Two (2) years’ experience in an automated office environment performing moderate level data entry work and/or in use of computer systems, databases and computer software applications
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Other Information:
This is a bargaining unit position with a starting salary of $31,435 with employer paid social security. Fringe benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, health insurance, paid holidays, and retirement plan.
