The Fight for 15 demands a $15 living wage and the right to form a union without retaliation.
It has become one of the largest and most momentous organizing campaigns for low wage workers across the country. As part of a global movement, thousands of fast food workers are standing up for “$15 and a Union.” For the past 3 years, fast food workers from McDonalds and many other fast food corporations have been fighting to have their voices heard. The Fight For $15 has been extremely successful as thousands of fast food workers across the country have mass mobilized and fought back against the $200 billion industry.
Main Function:
To identify and sign up workers in the workplace and greater community. This includes engaging workers at or near their work place, areas of public transit, and in the community.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Passion for economic and social justice
- Bilingual speaking ability- English and Spanish
- Ability to engage and inspire people regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, language, class and/or experiences
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to a changing schedule
- A valid driver’s license, working vehicle, and ability to drive 15 passenger van
Salary:
- $15 per hour
- This position is a temporary position with potential to last up to 10 weeks.
- Canvassers could work up to 40 hours, but no more than 40 hours per week
