ACCE is a multi-issue, membership-based community organization building the power and voice of people of color and poor and working families across the state of California. With offices in 6 cities, ACCE works in local communities and statewide to fight for economic, racial and social justice. ACCE’s grassroots approach prioritizes training and empowering community residents to wage effective bottom-up campaigns with a heavy emphasis on direct community action, corporate accountability, and structural reforms.
About the Position
Be a leader in the fight to combat displacement and secure more affordable housing in the state of California!
We seek a full-time Campaign Coordinator who will help drive the organization’s Housing Justice work. ACCE is at the forefront of a major statewide effort to expand rent control and win more affordable housing. The Campaign Coordinator will work to strengthen and grow the statewide coalition. The position is full-time and requires some travel and the ability to work some evening and weekend hours.
We seek an individual with a passion for economic and racial justice and experience in both political campaigns and organizing, and someone who is energetic, can overcome obstacles and work in a fast-paced environment.
Position location:
This position will be based out of one of our regional offices throughout California, and will ideally, though not necessarily, be based in Los Angeles.
Primary Responsibilities:
The candidate will report to ACCE’s Campaign Director and will:
- Staff the statewide housing justice coalition, Housing Now!, that ACCE helps to lead
- Conduct outreach to grow the number of organizations involved in the statewide coalition
- Work with local ACCE staff and leaders to facilitate the involvement and leadership of community members across the state in the campaign
- Coordinate ACCE’s statewide campaign against Wall Street corporate landlords
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-years’ experience in labor organizing, community organizing and/or political organizing
- Proficient at basic computer skills including email, using the internet, creating formal documents in Microsoft Word, and creating formulas in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills – good attention to detail and well organized
- Self-motivated – proven ability to work independently and overcome obstacles
- Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations, including a deep understanding of issues facing communities of color and low-to- moderate-income families
- Position requires frequent travel and flexible work hours to accommodate campaign needs.
- Commitment to racial and economic justice
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building and working with broad-based issue coalitions, including involving base members in coalition decision making and campaign activities
- Bilingual – Spanish/English , and/or experience working in multi-lingual environments.
- Experience working with community or labor member leaders on campaigns.
ACCE uses a fixed salary skill based on responsibility and years of experience. Salary for this position begins at $22.03/hour or approx. $49,266 annually. ACCE offers a generous benefits package to all full-time employees.
