AFSCME Local 4041 is currently seeking one committed organizer for our Las Vegas, NV, location.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 4041, a state wide local for state employees, is currently seeking a committed Organizer for our LAS VEGAS office.

As an Organizer, you will be responsible for organizing workers in a right to work state. Inform Lead Organizer, Area Organizing Director, and Local Executive Board of activities, developments and progress of organizing activity, including worker meetings. Conduct worker meetings, build organizing committees, assist with turn-out to meetings and events and strengthen our union. The right candidate must be able to do home visits, telephone turnout, member to member organizing and member recruitment and duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma and 1 to 3 years’ experience in union organizing; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities; knowledge of union organizing practices and principles; basic knowledge of labor laws, and union organizing; knowledge of anti-union employer tactics. Possesses leadership, motivational skills and exhibits good oral and written communication skills. Work is performed in a variety of employment settings. Valid automobile driver’s license and auto insurance, extended travel, variable work schedules and temporary assignments are necessary. Probation will be one year to encompass training and successful work on organizing campaigns.

Salary and Benefits Package:

• Salary Range: $30,000-$40,000 Commensurate with experience.
