Summary: The four local SEIU unions within the Pennsylvania State Council represent nearly 80,000 members, united by the belief in the dignity and worth of workers and the services they provide and dedicated to improving the lives of workers and their families and creating a more just society. The State Council works to coordinate the collective priorities of SEIU members throughout the state. As part of our work to advance a progressive agenda, SEIU PA State Council is looking for a communications and digital organizer to support issue and electoral campaigns in PA.
Duties and Responsibilities: Working with SEIU leaders and staff and collaborating with community partners, this organizer will deploy a wide range of traditional and digital communications tactics in order to implement strategic campaigns to build power for working families. This work will include, but is not limited to:
- Supporting the development and implementation of traditional and digital communications strategies and tactics
- Creating content for digital media platforms, email, and web that helps to identify and develop campaign participants
- Identifying and supporting traditional communications and digital needs and opportunities of partner organizations
- Producing messaging materials appropriate for a wide range of internal and external audiences
- Creating online share graphics and print materials such as fliers
- Coordinating with local unions and partners to create high impact events and moments
- Attending wide range of field activities throughout the state, providing preparatory, onsite and follow-up communications support
- Providing education and training for members and partner groups and activists

- Excellent writing skills with a wide range of tone and personality to match diverse audiences and platforms
- Excellent ability to communicate with, listen to, and move people to action, and the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to use online tools to communicate with and motivate groups to take action, including email, web copy, social media and online video
- Experience creating content for online consumption
- Experience with email platforms, social media tools, content management systems, and graphic design programs
- Ability to work independently with a strong sense of accountability to shared goals
- Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
Location: PA
Travel: The position requires a valid driver’s license, a car, and willingness to travel and work on the road as required within Pennsylvania.
